Hello fellow inventors and members of the SDIF.
As President I am pleased to announce the signing of an agreement today between our SDIF and CONNECT. www.connect.org
Together, the Parties entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to mutually promote the Springboard Program and the SDIF:
CONNECT’s Springboard Program offers free guidance and development to life sciences, clean-tech, high tech and consumer product companies in all stages of development, ranging from concept, technology transfer to start-up, to companies that have reached a significant inflection point. Innovators are matched with Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIRs) with related domain expertise and experience in raising capital and/or growing companies. The coaching process is focused on the development of a compelling business proposition that can be presented to investors. The process last from 3 to 5 months and ends with a presentation to a panel of VCs, Angel investors, service providers, and industry domain experts.
The Springboard director or Springboard program manager shall refer appropriate Springboard clients for mentoring to the San Diego Inventor Forum. In general, such clients are seeking to commercialize inventions, rather than technologies.
The members of the San Diego Inventor Forum shall provide pro-bono mentoring services to the referred inventors or company to assist in the assessment of the commercialization potential of such invention as well as in the further development of a potential business.
This means SDIF Mentor Inventors Vince Ruggiero and I offer to coach members of the San Diego Inventor Forum that are interested in starting a business how to assess their inventions and best prepare for the Springboard Program.
I think this partnership will help many inventors wanting to become successful entrepreneurs.
On behalf of the SDIF, I thank Ruprecht von Buttlar at CONNECT for making this arrangement.
